Tête-à-tête with Dr. O

We were chatting… you know..

Patient and I…

Tête-à-tête…

I like those …

She was telling me how she is working on protecting her “mental space” …

Re: anxiety

“Ah you mind your surround sounds” I said

What do you mean she asked..

“Oh those are the voices and influences (and influencers) that you listen to and permit to determine your outlook in life”…

“Consciously or subconsciously”.. I added

Some you gotta tune out

The ones that don’t help you grow..

The ones that highlight AND magnify problems but offer no solution…

Feed hysteria but take you no where …

Put the cycle of problems on replay and reruns..

The ones that encourage you to stay small and to de-value yourself

The ones that try to contradict God’s verdict on you…

Those ones

“Yeah doc”

I gotta mind my surround sounds

“Yup and amplify the ones that add value to you”

Lean in to those…

Phillipians 4:7-8 AMPLIFIED VERSION

That build you up..

That remind you that the impossible can be made possible..

The ones that will tell you the truth cause they love you more than they want you to like them…

The ones that fan the flames of progress yet keep you grounded …

That repeat God’s value system at play and that can be at play in your life…

Those..

We hugged…

How do you manage your surround sounds?
