Off from Medications

He made my day!

Literally.

Our last conversation had gone a bit sour!

I was concerned about his cholesterol level and his strong family history of early heart attacks.

I strongly suggested cholesterol medicines in addition to lifestyle changes of course.

He balked at the medications. The idea made him irritated.

I asked for his “why”.

Potential side effects he had read from Dr Google and his mistrust of pharmaceutical companies!

He asked if I was upset he declined.

I said it was his choice.
That he was the one going to swallow the pill so I understood his concern.

I did mention that the true consequences of untreated high cholesterol are more detrimental than many of the potential side effects.

I also told him I am glad to live in an era where Medications were an option.

We agreed 2months!

Repeat labs…

Follow up appointment- He. Made. My. Day!
Bad cholesterol down!
Good cholesterol up!
2lb weight loss!
More energy!

I asked his “how”.

He listened to what I had said re-lifestyle changes!

He gave up red meat!

Started eating 2 cups of steamed veggies a day

His wife was supportive.

Replaced beef with goat! Yes I said goat

And started “frying” with olive oil over butter

He started running for exercise.

Cut down on palm oil and started drinking water over soda.

No meds needed.

Yeah it is possible!

So here’s to you!

Doing your part to improve your quantity and quality of life with AND WITHOUT medications!
